Flood photos from northwest Arkansas

By: 26 April 2011 3 Comments

We at First Arkansas News posted some flood photos from northwest Arkansas yesterday, but a reader sent some more in so we’re showing those, too.

Before getting into all of that, bear in mind that the National Weather Service is calling for more flooding and tornadoes through Wednesday. It’s been a rough week already in that we’ve had a lot of rain, plenty of golf-ball sized hail, high winds and even some reports of tornadoes in the state. Gov. Mike Beebe declared a state of emergency for Arkansas last night and we’re not out of the woods yet if the Weather Service’s predictions are correct.

Yes, it’s spring in Arkansas. Thank goodness summer is on it’s way.

And now, on to the photos, which were all taken on Monday:

The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville got its share of flooding. Classes were called off at 3:30 p.m. on Monday due to the weather.

The entrance to the UA campus was none too inviting.

Getting into Prairie Grove over the Illinois River bridge was impossible.

Flooding shut down the War Eagle Mill through April 28 (at least).

Devils Den State Park in Washington County.
