Big Lots returns to Benton on April 22

By: 11 April 2011 One Comment

Well, here’s some good news for bargain hunters in Saline County — Big Lots (NYSE:BIG) will again have a store in Benton on April 22.

Benton residents will likely recall that Big Lots had a store in town for a few years on 1716 Military Road, but that one closed a couple of years ago and now houses a Goodwill store that opened in February (for fans of trivia, that location started out as a Safeway store).

The new Big Lots is located in Military Plaza at 1426 Military Road and a ribbon cutting will be held at 9 a.m. on April 22. Company officials, in honor of the occasion, will donate $2,500 to Howard Perrin Elementary School, according to a news release.

What is Big Lots? Simply put, it’s a closeout store where something is always on sale — you’ll find everything from name brands to off-the-wall stuff over there. The Benton store will be 21,000-square-feet in size and you can find out more about the company at its Internet site (you’ll find the latest deals on that page, too).

The Benton store is but one of 90 Big Lots plans to open by the end of the year.
