Spring and Wye Mountain

By: 20 March 2011 No Comment

Today was the first day of spring and could there possible be a better way to spend it than to take a bunch of kids to the Wye Mountain Daffodil Festival?

The Parkview United Methodist Church youth group in Benton, Ark., made the trip to Wye Mountain on Sunday to welcome in spring after a cold, miserable winter (we’re not used to snow in central Arkansas and we got plenty of it this year). This season marked the 33rd year of the Daffodil Festival at Wye Mountain, which is located a few miles west of Little Rock. To find out more about the festival, just click here.

For those in central Arkansas looking for a unique way to celebrate Easter, the Wye Mountain United Methodist Church will hold a sunrise service on April 24 at 5:57 a.m. at the cross in the middle of the daffodils field. You’ll find some details about that by clicking here.

Here are a few shots we took as the Parkview youth wandered through the daffodils on Sunday afternoon.

There are acres of daffodils out there. Pictures really don't do it justice.
