Pelphrey’s gone, so who’s next?

By: 13 March 2011 8 Comments

ESPN reported earlier today that Arkansas Head Basketball Coach John Pelphrey had been dismissed and that has been proven true.

Indeed, the University of Arkansas issued a statement confirming that Pelphrey has been released. Pelphrey, in his four seasons at Arkansas, compiled a 69-59 overall record and a 25-39 record in the SEC. Additionally, the Hogs appeared in one NCAA tournament under Pelphrey, having made it to the second round in the 2007-08 season.

Those stats, clearly, weren’t good enough for the University of Arkansas. The question, of course, is who will replace Pelphrey?

We’ll certainly know more in the weeks to come, although a lot of people are throwing Mike Anderson’s name around right now. Anderson, of course, is the head coach at Missouri and was an assistant to former Razorbacks basketball coach Nolan Richardson for 17 years.

Yes, Anderson was on Richardson’s team when the Hogs won the NCAA Championship in 1994 against Duke and fell to UCLA in the championship game in 1995.

Stay tuned…
