Name: Neile Jones-Batie

Location: Northwest Arkansas

Occupation: News Anchor/Public Speaker

Book Title: Look Again…Because You Can

Where can the book be found?, Borders,, and certain Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club locations.

Tell us about the book, what’s it about?

The book is about surviving an abusive relationship and things I wish I’d allowed myself to see in the beginning as well as appreciating all the blessings along the way that helped me find myself again…for me the book is about hope.
What inspires you to write?

I think I’m inspired by life. We all have a story. I guess my inspiration comes from the heart. For me the book is as much about my support system, my family, my friends as it is about anything else. They are the heroes of my life.
You’re obviously in the public eye, how did you feel about sharing your story and what made you decide to go public?

I had a hard time with “going public” because I didn’t want to cause more pain for my family or friends and of course for myself. The choice came from deep thought, lots of conversations and prayer. I felt so alone during this time in my life. Not alone as in without support, but alone in the sense that I felt stupid and ashamed. I guess I just wanted other people to know they are not alone in this problem that so many deal with every day and every night.

How has the response to your book inspired you and what will you do with
that inspiration?

The response has been a blessing in so many ways. I can’t explain how kind people have been to me and the number of friends I’ve made as a result of choosing to share such a personal and difficult journey. I’m just grateful for everyone person that picks up a copy and every person that finds something positive in the words they read. It’s also been a healing tool I think for both myself and my family to meet so many faces out there who find something positive in the books message. I’m working on another text and if it’s meant to be you’ll hopefully see it on store shelves some day. For me, the people I meet who take the time to share their stories with me and with my family—they keep me going, as does of course my faith.
Any other thoughts you want to share?

I just want to say I am in no way perfect. I’m just a woman who wanted to share this chapter of my life hoping it might help someone else decide they too can escape an abusive relationship. I’ve had many other challenges and I’m sure there will be more but I’m OK with that idea. I just want to say two words to anyone and everyone who has helped with this project or bought the book or share it with someone or helped another person in a bad situation: Thank you.
