Weekend OTR: My Favorite Husband — Young Matron League Tryout

By: 7 January 2011 No Comment

Before Lucille Ball struck it rich driving Desi Arnez crazy on that great early television situation comedy — I love Lucy — she starred in a very good old time radio show called My Favorite Husband.

Not only was it a very entertaining show, My Favorite Husband — for all intents and purposes — laid the groundwork for I Love Lucy. You’ll find a lot of the same wacky humor, dizzy behavior and everything else that propelled I Love Lucy to its status as a genuine phenomenon and integral part of American culture. In a sense, then, My Favorite Husband can be viewed as an historic document. Fortunately, it’s also a lot of fun.

As usual, this episode is brought to you by our friends at OTRCat.com. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again (and probably a few more times in the future) — if you’re an old time radio fan, you need to pay The Cat a visit. You’ll find great prices on discs packed with MP3 files (or standard audio CDs if you prefer), fast shipping, friendly customer service and constant sales.

Enough of that. Click the below link and enjoy the show.
