Mark Marchand named CEO of Arkansas Realtors Association

By: 11 January 2011 2 Comments

Sources close to the Arkansas Realtors Association (ARA) confirmed on Tuesday night that Mark Marchand has been named chief executive officer (CEO) of the trade organization.

Marchand — who started at the ARA on Monday — replaces Andy Schaus, who resigned as CEO in September. Chief Operating Officer Miki Bass was interim CEO while the association searched for Schaus’ replacement.

Marchand was CEO of the Pacific Southwest Association of Realtors in Chula Vista, Calif. That position is now held by Richard J. D’Ascoli, according to that organization’s Internet site. Marchand, according to his LinkedIn page,  has also been assistant executive officer and chief financial officer of the Greater Dallas Association of Realtors.

The ARA has released no information about Marchand, meaning no salary information — or much anything else — is available. However, the ARA is a nonprofit corporation and, as such, is required to file an IRS Form 990, titled Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax. Those returns are made available to the public through sites such as Foundation Center.

The most recent Form 990 on file for the ARA is for 2009. That filing shows that former CEO Schaus made $79,422 that year.

Well, that’s not exactly a change then, is it? It’s called a mistake and it’s one that I’ve corrected. Thanks for pointing it out. By the way, it seems odd y’all wouldn’t have announced this already.

No matter. I’m always glad to spread the word about what’s going on with the ARA. We’re neighborly down here in Benton.
