We are cool. Give us money.

By: 12 December 2010 One Comment

Since we started in April, First Arkansas News has grown nicely.

All of us are volunteers and this site has made about enough to cover start-up costs. Yes, we’re starting to attract some advertisers here and there, but thought it might be a good idea to appeal directly to those readers who stop by regularly.

While some publications charge for their content, we never will. No, reading whatever we have here is free and always will be. We’ve got a pretty solid plan in place to get some advertisers with us and that means we’ll be able to do some things such as send a little cash to our writers (we’ve got volunteers all over the state and they put in some serious hours), expand our coverage, etc.

Still, some readers out there might want to donate directly to First Arkansas News. Why? Perhaps they see this little site as something worth having around and want to see us keep growing.

To that end, you’ll find a handy PayPal donation button in the right sidebar right under the heading that reads, “We are cool. Give us money.” Want to contribute to what we hope is a worthy cause? Click that button and send us a couple of bucks through your PayPal account, credit card or banking account.

That money will be shared with our writers, cover some operating costs and that kind of thing. While we had hoped the inclusion of the Google ads we have on the site would provide that kind of passive income, that hasn’t worked out so well. While clicking those things doesn’t cost our readers a dime, we’ve not had much luck with those. Apparently, the advertisers there don’t offer much of interest to our readers.

Again, First Arkansas News is run with a low-pressure philosophy. We figure our advertisers will cover the costs around here in the near future, but we’d sure appreciate any donations made by readers who appreciate what we’re doing. And, this is probably the last time you’ll see us hit our readers up for donations.
