It’s official — Arkansas heading to the Sugar Bowl
People have speculated about it for over a week, but now it’s official — the Arkansas Razorbacks will face the Ohio Buckeyes in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on Jan. 4.
That’s a great thing for the Razorbacks. The program was a complete mess when Houston Nutt fled town and wound up in Ole Miss back in 2007. The Hogs found an upgrade in Head Coach Bobby Petrino, who has the team in its first bowl championship series bowl since the BCS was formed in 1998.
Yes, Petrino took a team that was an absolute wreck and turned it into one that’s made a BCS bowl, is ranked 8th in the nation and 2nd in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) West. And it only took him three years to do it.
As for Ohio State, the put together an 11-1 record in the Big 10 and is ranked 6th in the nation. Here’s hoping we see a good game between the two teams.
It seems that Arkansas’ road to the Sugar Bowl was paved by Auburn’s defeat of South Carolina in the SEC championship game last night. Auburn, of course, will head to Arizona on Jan. 10 to face Oregon for the national championship.
