Christmas comes to PacLand

By: 19 December 2010 One Comment

Any child of the 1980s should remember the Pac-Man cartoon show that was produced by Hanna-Barbera in 1982 and 1983.

That show, of course, was based on the arcade game that we were all wacky over in the 1980s. Yes, that game remains popular today, but the same really can’t be said of the Saturday morning cartoon that a bunch of us followed.

By the way, what the heck happened to Saturday morning cartoons, anyway? Looks like having cable stations airing cartoons 24 hours a day may have cut into the ritual that was viewing cartoons on Saturday morning.

At any rate, the Pac-Man cartoon gave birth to a Christmas special that still shows up every year on Cartoon Network’s Boomerang channel. And, yes, it is scheduled for Dec. 24-26 on Boomerang, so set that DVR.

Don’t want to wait until Christmas Eve to see Christmas Comes to PacLand? No problem! We here at First Arkansas News are just eaten up with the Christmas spirit and are embedding the YouTube video of the special.

By the way, this particular special seems to appear as either Christmas Comes to Pac-Land or Christmas Comes to PacLand. It’s hard to determine which one is correct, but does it really matter? At any rate, enjoy the show *it’s in two parts) and have a merry Christmas!
