The site is growing so take advantage now

"What? Those ad rates are so low! They must be -- crazy!"

As I’ve mentioned time and time again, we at First Arkansas News hope to sell some more ads.

The question potential advertisers will ask, of course, is how advertising with us can benefit them.

In a nutshell, advertisers get a lot of bang for the buck with us. Click here to take a look at our ad rates and then ponder the following facts.

Those rates should come across as more than a bit low when one considers the amount of traffic the site is getting. First Arkansas News started on April 16 and, since then, we’ve had 117,605 visits (which doesn’t tell us much) and 83,395 unique visits (which tells us a lot). A unique visit is one visit from one person per day — if someone decided to visit the site 30 times in one day, the site would register just one unique hit.

On a month-by-month basis, then, that means the site averages roughly 11,900 unique visits per month. Fortunately, we’re whipping the socks off that average — we recorded 16,418 unique hits in October, meaning traffic is expanding. At this rate, we’ll record over 100,000 unique hits by the end of the year and that’s pretty good for a site that’s will celebrate its first anniversary in April next year.

By the way, these facts and figures are courtesy of the incredibly useful CyStats plugin for WordPress. If you’ve got a WordPress-powered site, CyStats is simply one of the best ways available to track your traffic.

Want some more stats? Sure! We know that 63.05 percent of our traffic last month came from search engines, 21.5 percent from links posted on other sites, 13.08 percent from visitors who accessed the site directly and 2.34 percent from other sources (whatever that means).

And who’s dropping by the site? Primarily from all parts of Arkansas with a bit of an emphasis on the central, northwest and River Valley areas of the state. However, about 40 percent of the traffic is from around the United States.

So, we’ve got a lot of traffic coming into the site and most of it comes from search engines. First Arkansas News is a publisher on Google News and that means we’ll keep getting traffic so long as we keep writing timely, relevant articles.

Want visitors to see your ad? We want them to see it, too. Companies that advertise with us get traffic and I’ve got proof — clicks from every ad on this site are tracked so we can tell advertisers exactly how many hits they get. Yes, we’ll be glad to tell you how your ad is doing and we don’t have any contracts per se — sign up with us, see if we deliver what we promise and cancel after a month or so if you don’t like how your ad is doing. That’s low risk advertising, folks — a rarity these days.

Oh, one more thing. Our ad rates are low because none of the writers here rely on this site for a living. We’ve all got other job but choose to submit articles here because, hey, we’re all most current or former journalists and can’t help covering news and posting it. Take out an ad here and you can be on a site that gets a lot of visitors and keeps ad rates affordable. That’s the bottom line.
