Holland

The runoff results are in and Benton Mayor Rick Holland is out.

According to unofficial results from Saline County, challenger David Mattingly defeated Holland got 2,526 votes and Holland received 1,215 in Tuesday’s runoff election. It’s been a rough year for incumbents, indeed.

Holland and Mattingly were forced into the runoff after the Nov. 2 elections. There were three candidates in Benton’s mayoral race — Holland, Mattingly and Don White. Holland led the pack with 41.32 percent of the votes and Mattingly finished second with 28.49 percent.

In Shannon Hills, Mike Kemp is the apparent winner of that race, defeating Dave Holsomback. Kemp received 220 votes and Holsomback got 214 in the unofficial totals.

There were a few runoff races for aldermen positions throughout the county. Click the aforementioned links to see who prevailed in those.
