Old Fashioned Day set for Saturday in Benton
This is the 36th year for the event, meaning that those of us who grew up in town consider the event as the unofficial beginning of fall (yes, I know we entered fall last month, but this is Arkansas — stays hot through at least mid-October). Old Fashioned Day can be considered rather like a crafts fair with plenty of local musicians, food carts selling the typical unhealthy (but very tempting) stuff and politicians wandering around here and there.
The event will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9 in downtown Benton and admission is free. The bulk of the vendors will be set up on the Saline County Courthouse Square, but you’ll find plenty of things to do on the boundaries of the event. Old Fashioned Day is Central Arkansas Development Council Benton Senior Activity Center and Saline County Council on Aging and you’ll find more information about the event at the CADC site.
If you’re at Old Fashioned Day before 10 a.m., make sure to stop by the Parkview United Methodist booth and pay me a visit.
