Weekend OTR — The Life of Riley: Two Dates for Junior

By: 13 August 2010 No Comment

It’s the weekend once again and you know what that means — another fun-filled installment of the Weekend OTR series here at First Arkansas News.

As always, we’ve got a great show for you cats this weekend. Like comedy? Who doesn’t? And one of the best comedies on old time radio was The Life of Riley.

William Bendix played in the title role and the series stands as a fine example of why people loved old time radio so much. And if you want to talk about societal impact, bear in mind the show went on to become one of the more successful television situation comedies and helped create the blueprint for programs that followed.

As always, this program is brought to you by our friends at You’ll find entire runs of your favorite old time radio shows for just pennies an episode over there. I’ve ordered a few discs full of MP3s from the cat and have plenty of great programs to listen to on my truck when I’m on road trips. Those MP3s can be transferred to iPods and hard drives, too, so I can listen to them anywhere.

So, visit The Cat for all your old time radio needs. Before you do that, however, make sure to click the below link and listen to this week’s show:
