Bryant, Thurston square off in land commissioner race

By: 10 June 2010 No Comment

Believe it or not, the race for the Arkansas Commissioner of State Lands’ office has gotten a lot of attention this year.

That’s fairly rare when we’re talking about an office that is generally regarded as administrative in scope. However, Democrat LJ Bryant campaigned like the dickens during the primaries and attracted attention with his promises of using technology to make the office function better.

John Thurston had no challenger in the Republican primary and has been watching the three Democrats who filed for the office fight it out these past few months. It’s his turn to campaign hard and see if the public responds to his ideas — one of the more intriguing parts of Thurston’s campaign that he tends to remind voters that a Republican has never been land commissioner in Arkansas.

He’d like to be the first.

Click here to listen to an interview with Thurston. You’ll find an interview with Bryant here.

Bear in mind that both of those interviews were recorded prior to the primaries and I put together the one with Bryant for the Arkansas Realtors Association.
