Weekend OTR – Philip Marlowe: Lady in Mink
Having demonstrated an interest in old time radio (OTR), I’ve decided that few things could be more fun than putting up a weekly show in hopes that people will enjoy them and also develop such a similar fascination with those programs I’ve enjoyed over the years. Every Saturday night, then, I’ll post a new show. Those will remain on this site permanently, so hopefully I’ll eventually develop a pretty good sampler for those who are curious about OTR and liked to learn more about it. The weekly shows are sponsored by OTRCat.com — a site dedicated to providing programs in MP3 or typical audio CD format at a reasonable price. I’m starting things off with a program from 1949 from the Philip Marlowe series — “Lady in Mink.” The Marlowe character — perhaps most famously portrayed by Humphrey Bogart in the 1946 movie The Big Sleep — was a hardboiled detective developed by Raymond Chandler. In the episode I’ve showcased here, Marlowe is played by famed actor Gerald Mohr. So, turn up those speakers (or clamp on those headphones), click the below link and enjoy.
